Memberships

We’re pleased to announce our completely online application/renewal system!

You are now able to apply for and renew your membership online. You can fill out your application, complete your eWaiver, and pay for your membership electronically. This is the fastest and most secure way to apply or renew. Grouse Mountain memberships have unique application requirements, and cannot be processed through this new online system. For Grouse Mtn, please read more about it in the Membership Levels below.

Your membership funds the free flight infrastructure and ecosystem in the Lower Mainland and Squamish-Lillooet regions of BC. WCSC pays for launch site tenure (including commercial use for instructional and tandem flights), we negotiate LZ access with landowners, and organize events like fly-ins and repack clinics. We are very transparent about what we do, and every member can view our finances on the forum.

“We” are not just the board of directors. Our indispensable volunteers maintain flying sites, teach pilots to repack their chutes, offer their homes for events, and so much more.

Membership Levels

We welcome all kinds of hang gliding and paragliding pilots! As such, we’ve tried to create our membership levels to accommodate a variety of needs including regular members, student pilots, youth, visiting pilots, and site-specific sub memberships (like Grouse Mountain). Use the tabs below to find which membership level applies to you. In the event that there is a discrepancy between information on the website, and the membership levels and fees in the Society’s bylaws, the information presented in bylaws are the correct version. Also, note that the WCSC region is defined as the Lower Mainland + Sea to Sky + Pemberton.

Please note: No matter what kind of membership you choose, all pilots are required to fill out and submit a waiver. We now have the ability to process memberships and waivers online (eWaiver), but more about that below.

Applying for Membership & Renewals

The preferred method for all membership applications and renewals is online… so let’s go over that first! Keep in mind that there is a different application process for Grouse Mountain Memberships. To learn more and apply, visit the Grouse Mtn Flying Team’s website.

Method 1: Online (Preferred)

The process is slightly different for new members applying for the first time, and current members simply looking to renew. They’re both described below.

New Members

You will be prompted to create an eWaiver. Once completed and submitted, you will be sent an email verification.

Verify your email and follow the instructions.

For payment security, we use PayPal. Keep in mind that you do not need a PayPal account, you can use one of your major credit cards.

If you have any questions or problems please contact webmaster@westcoastsoaringclub.com

If you forgot you password use this link: RESET PASSWORD

If you have any questions or problems, please contact webmaster@westcoastsoaringclub.com

Method 2: Analog (printing + sending by snail mail)

If you still prefer the old-fashioned way, we’re okay with that too. We will need the following things from you:

  1. Fill out Application Form (only for new members)
  2. Waiver – If you are a new member, download the waiver and fill it out. If you are a renewing member, you only have to fill out a new waiver if you haven’t done so since late 2014. If you were a current member in 2019 or 2020, you don’t need to send one in.
  3. Payment – We will only accept payment by cheque if sending in by mail. Make it out to the West Coast Soaring Club. Do not send cash.
  4. Mail it in! For new members, make sure you send in all of the above. For renewing members, a quick note with your name and a cheque will suffice, along with a waiver if needed (see above).

Method 3: Download + Email + Send Cheque

Let’s avoid this method… but if you must:

  1. Download & Fill out Application Form (only for new members). Scan it as a PDF (preferably).
  2. Waiver – If you are a new member, download the waiver and fill it out. Scan it as a PDF (preferably).
  4. Mail in Payment – A quick note with your name and a cheque will suffice. Make sure to email in your waiver and application form if required.
  5. Email your Application Form and Waiver (as required) to member@westcoastsoaringclub.com.
