Come do some task flying with fellow club members!

Based on member feedback we are trying out something new this year and running a series of informal race workshops. We will have a number of events at different club flying sites with a focus on learning that will act as an introduction to competition flying for anyone curious, while also providing a fun way to fly in a gaggle in a way that we don’t often have the chance to experience on the west coast. These will also be great warmups for anyone headed to nationals in Golden.

What should you Expect?

Tasks will typically be 30-40km with a race style start. That means everyone will have time to get in the air and get high so we can all go on our first glide together.

Who can participate?

Anyone comfortable flying xc is welcome. We’ll plan to have both a beginner and an advanced course each day designed to keep people together as much as possible. Note that some sites require HAGAR!

Lots of learning

We will teach people how to set up their instruments and then practice using them to fly tasks. Daily briefings around weather, landings, hazards, course line specific details. Each day will end with a 3D replay and debrief discussion.

This is not an official race, fly smart!

These causal events won’t have any first aid on launch, we won’t be providing tracking, and we won’t have dedicated retrieves. Treat each race day just like your usual independent xc day.

WCSC and HPAC membership are required

if you need help with a temporary membership or need to write a test for a rating feel free to reach out ahead of time.
