Hike & Fly Planner
Below you will find the Hike & Fly Planner.
The tool calculates the destination a paraglider can reach (in theory), gliding from a chosen starting location and elevation. The calculation rests on the assumption of these conditions:
- Static air – no wind and no thermals.
- Assumes flying with the set glide ratio even when turning. No change in the glide ration due to braking or accelerating.
- The height model used is coarse with a grid size of approximately 200 meters.
The tool is meant to supplement flight preparations in addition to information like the weather forecast, aeronautical charts, and common sense.
The Hike & Fly Planner was created by Daniel Arndt and a link to the original project can be found here.
