Post by pep »

"Tidbits about flying abroad" tid·bit
noun
plural noun: tidbits
a small and particularly interesting item of gossip or information, in our case about how to get a beer in a foreign place...

Winter is coming fast and most people are beginning to make their winter flying get-a-way plans.

This Friday's presentation will be done by Nicole Mclearn, she has extensive experience flying in foreign countries and agreed to present to us what we need to consider so we can have a good experience abroad.

The topic will include bits about: (not necessarily in this order )
  • Extended health care
  • Contact local pilots
  • Find Lodging (Short-term and long-term)
  • Local Mobility
  • Communication
  • Food issues
  • Vaccination requirements
  • Visas requirements
  • Documentation (IPPI or FAI)
  • Participating in an international competition
Date: Friday October 26th.

Time: location booked from 19:30 hrs, talk starts at 20:00 hrs (Order your food and drinks before if you can)

Place: "Baron's Manor Pub" (http://thebaronsmanor.com/)
Address: 9568 192 St, Surrey, BC V4N 3R3.

Google maps: https://www.google.ca/maps/place/9568+1 ... 22.6900921

Note: Board members of the WCSC club will be present to chat any issue you may want to bring up to the Board. Carpools will be going from Vancouver and from North Vancouver.

Fly safe and see you all out there.

Wanted to send out a special thanks to Nicole for a terrific presentation! Even this grumpy old man that will travel no further then the dirt of Washington State found it to be a informative discussion.

Lots of participation and useful exchanges on topics ranging from health insurance, Spot/Garmin trackers, culture, banking, food, border crossing and bureaucracy of travel ... useful, even if all your doing is crossing the US border let alone some other far off destination (like Timbuktu?).

Cheers
