Ozone Accident Investigation - Nevada

Post by Claudia »

Ozone published an interesting investigation about an accident that happened this summer in Nevada.

Some points
- Don't exceed the load limit, especially important for heavier pilots. All glider sizes use lines of the same strength. That means heavier pilots are closer to the strength limit.
- Follow instructions closely when re-mounting lines.
- When flying at high altitude reactions of the wing are quicker (thin air) while reactions of the pilot may be slower and effects of G forces more severe (lack of oxygen).
- Choose wings with highly visible colors

This is rather instructive examination of the accident. It took quite a while to find the guy. I guess it is the guy that was missing for a while that we heard about on fb.
