Pemberton Flying site under threat - please help

Post by Amir »

If you're not aware, our flying site in Pemberton is under threat. This is arguably Canada's best and busiest paragliding site and its loss would be a huge blow to our sport.

Blackcomb Helicopters has applied for a tenure to use our primary flying corridor to ferry mountain bikers around. As you know, helicopters and paragliders to not mix. They create an incredible amount of rotor in a very wide area which can collapse wings several kilometers away. And there is no shortage of other sites they can use for their commercial activities.

We really need your help and support. If you have flown in Pemberton, or one day would like to, then please can you leave a polite but negative comment on their tenure application (see link below). Let them know how dangerous helicopters are to our sport and that their presence will severely impact our safety.

The deadline for comments is July 26. Please follow this link and scroll to the bottom to leave a comment.

Many thanks

An optimist believes this is the best of all possible worlds. A pessimist fears that is true.
