Re: Canada Rasp donations

I am sure Peter will correct me if this is wrong, but as I understand it from my conversations with Andrew and Peter, canada RASP isn't actually RASP anymore. It directly uses the HRDPS data and displays it in a RASPlike manner. TJ rasp takes a weather models (more than one or which one I am not sur...

Re: BCHPA Funding

Hi, I'm the current BCHPA president and local rep for Vancouver and Pemberton. I'm not sure this is the best venue for this discussion and I think you should talk to your local rep Jason Leus. However I can say that BCHPA is looking to widen the scope of the the activities it undertakes in support o...

New XC competition: The Golden Doughnut

Greetings one and all, I'm announcing a silly competition for silly prizes. This is something that I'm personally doing so please don't give any of our many hard working club officials a hard time about this. All abuse should be aimed at me. Goal: Fly the biggest circle in a year Prize: A box of dou...

Re: Canadian Paragliding Nationals?....

comp set an altitude limit of 10k feet. penalties were 5 points per m over. (Yes I get the unceasing irony of mixed units, this was how the information was given.)

Re: Best LD

As far as I've read, all glider tend to have their best glide ratio at trim in dead calm air. It's just that as the performance/class goes up, the speed bar become less of a sink bar so it becomes advantageous to use bar in less and less sink/headwind. ...and then there is using bar to cover distanc...

Re: Should I Stay or should I Leave?....

there is also this thing called inflation, I'm sure even you Canadians have heard of it. Just wondering how much of the increase in annual dues could be accounted for there. (~2.4 fold increase at 3% per year for 30 years, dunno what the Canadian inflation rate has been over that time period though....

Re: Vandalism on Mt. Woodside

I doubt the fires were started out of mischief. If it were mischief they would have started them in the middle of the matting. I think it is people going up there to camp/look at the view and drink a bit. The windsock pole could easily be a misguided drunken dare, "I bet you can't climb that&qu...

Re: Mid air / Pilot Liability / Fairness

you islanders are such a cohesive bunch aren't you? :D My biggest concern in this case is the track record, I'm not sure if it should have a bearing on the current case or not. I think it takes two pilots to have a mid-air. There is no way I'd ask for compensation. I'd hope that if someone blatantly...
