Re: Bridal Falls/Archibald Gondola Proposal
I wonder if us hang glider pilots will be able to benefit from the gondola as well . It would be nice to return Bridal to its former glory as a great site for all pilots, not just the paragliders.

Re: Why the Amateur Radio People Hate Us....
Personally I think FRS for instructional purposes is fine because the instructors always have the students in sight. Cell phone communication is a good idea too, and I've actually called my lovely wife to come and fetch me if I couldn't raise her on the radio.

Re: Why the Amateur Radio People Hate Us....
Just an FYI regarding the power required for line of sight transmissions on the 2 meter band. Back in the mid 90s a bunch of us hangies were out at Woodside on what seemed to be a turbulent ridge day and there were several mishaps including one pilot that went down in the Harrison river almost on a ...

Re: This forum vs. LINE
Well, I for one didn't know there was a set of rules regarding the usage of line. I usually put in my two bits worth on weather or wether or not I'm going flying, but I have posted a picture or two of stuff I had to do that kept me from flying on a given weekend.

Hmmm... gotta admit I don't ever recall having any problems coming through that slot but hats off to the Duncan's for taking out a potential hazard .

Yup I would say it was Tannerite, a legally purchased two part mix for making exploding targets. Personally I don't know why your target has to explode.

Savona Easter weekend.
Just curious as to who is planning to go up to Savona over the Easter weekend. I'll be heading up on Friday with Karen if the weather looks decent or maybe Saturday if that seems more appropriate. Either way I need to get some flying in soon.

ham radio power
Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth as I have had great results on the 2 meter band using low power settings on my old radio shack hand held. there I was @ 5000 ft. over mother Woodside and I was talking to a fellow in southern Washington and then another guy in Victoria. All on a low power settin...

Flying sites
If you prefer motels, it's pretty easy. Keep an eye on the weather, pack up the night before if possible and head out on a Friday night after work. Fly Sat. and Sun. and head back in the evening. Better yet, go on the long weekends.

Where to fly?
As I live in Abbotsford it only takes about 3 hrs. to get up to Cache Creek and there are several sites in that area. It is usually a weekend overnight kind of thing but I think it is worth it when you get bored with mother Woodside.
