Re: end of an era? Airspace grab!
We need to start an immediate letter writing campaign. No effing way we should give up our CYAs. All questions or comments regarding the proposed airspace changes should be sent to: studies.etudes@navcanada.ca If all the calls to never giving up a single flying site (at one of the more recent WCSC ...

Re: end of an era? Airspace grab!
The problem of loosing a strip on the south side of Woodside CYA186 is that the proposal includes lowering the C ceiling from 6500 to 5500 over the 'Fraser River' which apparently will include the annexed parts of CYA186. There is a low resolution image in the proposal and it looks like this include...

Re: end of an era? Airspace grab!
If the ceiling is lowered to 4000 ft in the middle of the valley it will put an end to Fraser Valley crossings west of the Agassiz bridge.
And unnecessary because IFR planes approaching Abbotsford will never be that low in that area.

Re: end of an era? Airspace grab!
Do you have a link to the actual publication?
Looks like someone didn't like the recommendations of the airspace review last year and is starting from scratch again.

Re: WCSC ISS amalgamation
The meeting yesterday left me with a question: If the ISS does not know how many members they have currently how do they know that the majority (the proportion that is required in their bylaws) of their members are in agreement with the dissolution of their club? Has this been documented? This is le...

Re: WCSC ISS amalgamation
I see only drawbacks/problems for WCSC members and no benefits. Drawbacks: extra workload for the board /drain of volunteer and financial resources, liability/responsibility for remote sites we have no control over and the potential that existing conflicts between Island pilots spread into the WCSC....

Re: Weather stations
Very different clientele at Woodside, unfortunately. Webcam was gone in a couple of months. Outhouse shot at pretty much every year and toppled over last year (who in the world topples over outhouses???) Trucks and quads driven onto the carpet. Huge rocks (installed up to prevent vehicle access to l...

Ozone Accident Investigation - Nevada
Ozone published an interesting investigation about an accident that happened this summer in Nevada. PDF here: https://xcmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Accident-Investigation-Nevada-2020-2.pdf Some points - Don't exceed the load limit, especially important for heavier pilots. All glider sizes use...

Re: Cascade Skyline Project
Maps with the proposed placement were shown at the Zoom meeting. Since I did not join the meeting this is second or third hand info. The proposed routing shown was along Alan's Ridge to the saddle. If this is the case the distance to launch would be 600-700 meters and would IMO not pose a risk to la...

Re: Cascade Skyline Project
Couple of comments: Fraser Valley pilots have been in contact with the project developers for several months and many of us (including myself) have been talking to these contact pilots. WCSC Newsletter: 'The WCSC is working with the Bridal Falls Gondola project team to develop and enhance the flying...
